Calado eager to take on Bottas in GP3

James Calado is confident he can defeat highly-rated new team-mate Valtteri Bottas and become the first Racing Steps Foundation driver to win a single-seater championship when he moves into GP3 in 2011. The Briton narrowly missed out on the 2009 Formula Renault UK title with Fortec, before finishing a distant runner-up to Carlin team-mate Jean-Eric Vergne in British F3 in 2010.

Alonso: 2011 rule changes will succeed

Fernando Alonso is confident that Formula 1's rule-makers have hit upon the solution to the sport's lack of overtaking with the arrival of moveable wings and the return of Kinetic Energy Recovery Systems (KERS) next year. The wing device will allow drivers to activate an F-duct-style drag-reduction system when within a prescribed distance behind a car ahead, giving the chasing driver a straightline speed advantage over their opponent - who will not be able to trigger their own wing device in defence. In parallel with this new initiative, the power-boosting KERS will be reintroduced after a one-year absence.

Coulthard will not take top Mercedes

Mercedes has admitted that the possibility of David Coulthard being promoted to a top car in the DTM is not being discussed for 2011. Both the manufacturer and the 13-time grand prix winner have said they are keen for their relationship to continue into next season. But Coulthard has always stated that he does not want to move up to a front-line car when there are other drivers in the team more deserving of the chance
